Abstract
Theme Name
[Joint: #5, #1, #6] Authority that was never crisply authored
Proposer(s)
Pam Dixon, World Privacy Forum
Summary
This is the joint sub-thread agreed in #1, for the case all three themes name as their sharpest: authority that was never crisply authored — a natural-language goal handed to an agent.
Scope / Open Questions
Two questions, in order:
-The prior question, from #5: whether such a goal constitutes a grant of authority at all — what was conferred, by whom, and within what the grantor could confer. If no grant exists, there is nothing for provenance to carry and nothing for a verdict to evaluate against.
-The consequent questions, from #1 and #6: what a record can honestly carry in that situation, and how the absence of a clean reference is made legible rather than silently omitted, as put in #1 — with null semantics carried per #6.
Related Themes
The seam already fixed applies here: evaluation against intent is verification and has its home in #6; whether a grant exists at all is prior, and travels with #5. The record's properties remain #1's questions.
